Alas, there's a solution to this...
Introducing the Noozie Comfort (that sounded
like a telesales advert...anyway). If you hate being cold or suffer with aches
and pains, you need a Noozie in your life. It's basically a modern day hot
water bottle that can be heated via an electrical socket. It takes 10-12
minutes to heat and the warm-goodness lasts from 2-4 hours (or 6 if it's
snuggled up in bed with you). The maximum temperature is 65C. It's quick, easy
and doesn't require a kettle. Could it be any more suitable for Spoonies?
Heat therapy can be used by anyone as it
increases blood flow and aids in quicker recovery times.
It’s extremely safe, meeting all health and
safety regulations, and made with quadruple layer PVC. The outer fabric is very
soft, (I'm actually sat here stroking it as I type) and the product weighs
1.2kg. Inside the bottle contains pure filtered water and a heating element.
I particularly like using my Noozie when I’m
going out for a few hours in my wheelchair and I know I’ll get cold. I either
put it behind my back or on the top of my thighs to keep my legs warm – I suffer
terribly with the cold getting in my knees, so it really helps keep the
achiness away.
As I can’t regulate my temperature, when I get
cold, I get really cold and simply can't get warm. I end up wearing a fleece onesie, fleece dressing gown, fluffy socks, a blanket, duvet, and beanie hat, all snuggled up in bed. However, when my body decides to take an icicle from the Snow Queen's heart, I immediately grab for my Noozie and have a little cuddle. After 5-10 minutes, my body decides it wants to be normal again and I warm up.
I'm pretty much in love with my Noozie. I keep it and the charger in my bedroom, so if I need it during the night, I can heat it up and use it, without having to wake my boyfriend to go and make me a hot water bottle. It means I can self-care and be more independent too. Hot water bottles are definitely things of the past, and Noozie's the future, just saying.
Would you consider using a Noozie?

ReplyDeleteGood idea x
DeleteAs a fellow Spoonie I am so happy to have read this post! I have the same issue with Hot Water Bottles, Wheat Bags never last long enough and Heat Patches are an expensive option so I'm definitely getting one of these!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I could help. I find negatives in all you've mentioned, but this is just fab x
DeleteI think I want one of these. Sounds far more sensible than the "I'm mildly allergic to the adhesive" air-activated single use things.
ReplyDeleteHighly recommend x
Delete*sighs* And I just realized this particular object, at least, only seems to exist for UK voltage.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they don't ship overseas as yet x
DeleteHi sarah, love the hot water bottle, I can't be trusted with a kettle full of hot water either :) . Do you have an affiliate link for it on Amazon? There's just one left in stock so I'll order soon but I wanted to check with you first.
ReplyDeleteI don't lovely, snap it up x
DeleteI got one of these last year. It is fab.
ReplyDeleteLove mine too x
DeleteOh my goodness I'm so glad I've seen this post! I also can't fill hot water bottles myself for the same reason. My husband has to do it for me, which means when he's out at work, I have no heat pain relief :( I really need to buy one of these now! xx
ReplyDeleteThey're fab, hope it helps x
