Of Hearts: The Bra Strap

Woman with brown curly hair sat with back to camera and looking over shoulder wearing black bra

I've wanted to write something like this for a while, I guess you could call it a series of stories, things that happened to me or things I want to talk about that aren't conventional blog posts. I'm titling it Of Hearts because it's a play on words regarding the Queen of Hearts and my love of Alice in Wonderland but also because I'm a massive cliche and these essays will be from the heart.

Georgie Pupdate: One Year On

Brown and white cockapoo standing on field with tongue out

It's been a whole year since we picked George up from Lawford Doodles and brought him into our family and it's been the best.

11 Ways Social Distancing Rules Have Affected My Autistic Boyfriend

woman and man sat down, he is leaning his head against hers and she is holding his beard

*Disclaimer: I am not autistic but my boyfriend is and wanted me to discuss this topic on his behalf

COVID-19 has certainly changed the way we live, and with lockdown lifting the virus is still a massive concern to me and my boyfriend. Ian was officially diagnosed as autistic after an array of assessments two years ago, but even without the piece of paper, we knew. He just wanted to have proof for, in his words, 'to explain the way I am'.

Skull Shaver Butterfly Kiss Fierce Shaver Review

Rose gold shaver on table with red box behind and spider plant

*Disclaimer: Ad. This post contains PR items.

So, here's the story; my Pops is a new Facebook user and every ad that pops up on his feed, he thoroughly investigates. That's how I was introduced to Skull Shaver. Via my dad's Facebook ads. It's his 70th birthday next month and I called him asking if there was anything specific he'd like as a present and he immediately announced 'a skull shaver.'

Wall Art With Desenio

*Disclaimer: AD. This post is sponsored

Initially this post was going to show off my finished bedroom, complete with the beautiful wall art that I took hours choosing from Desenio, however with COVID-19 taking over the world, my final bits and pieces I needed to finish off our bedroom have been postponed. I'm still waiting on my plush grey carpet and kingsize bed with a beautiful upholstered headboard - I have no idea when they'll be arriving but I couldn't wait to show you my prints!

A Scary Trip to the Emergency Vet with our Puppy

Last weekend did not go to plan. Life in lockdown is stressful enough but on Saturday night my 11 month old puppy, George, scared the life out of me and Ian. I even think Teddy knew there was something wrong as he wouldn't leave Georgie's side.

Four Ways to Style Truffle Shuffle T-shirts: Plus Size Edit

Woman in wheelchair smiling and holding hair back whilst wearing Labyrinth tshirt

*Disclaimer: AD. This post contains gifted items from Truffle Shuffle.

I am a massive fan of a T-shirt; slogan tees, band tees, film/tv tees - they're my jam. They're easy to wear, can be dressed up or down, and they're just comfortable. As a wheelchair user, I don't like clothes that are too constrictive because I don't move about a lot so want to wear clothing I don't have to think about.

Making Friends as an Adult is Hard

Woman holding phone and looking at Instagram

Making friends as an adult is hard. Making friends as a disabled adult is really hard. I'm in my early thirties, I spend a lot of time at home due to my health and it gets really isolating.

Don't Bring Fatphobia into 2020

TW: Diet talk, eating disorders

I realise we're half way through January but still....The 'new year, new me' bullshit has begun. The soar in diet culture and the memes about being fat are polluting social media sites, and its gross. I'm quite frankly sick of logging into Facebook and seeing 'friends' share such damaging and hateful pictures about eating too much over the festive period and putting on the dreaded two pounds. Just stop.
